Dr Laurel Ho

Assistant Director General, Department of Foreign Exchange


Dr. Laurel, Lan-chih Ho is Assistant Director General of the Department of Foreign Exchange in the Central Bank of the Republic of China (Taiwan). She has been assigned for overseeing the foreign reserve management since January 2012. She is also monitoring the performance of external asset managers. Before assigned with this position, she was doing research on asset allocation strategies, fixed-income investment strategies, currency overlay strategies etc.

She joined the CBC at February 2004. Prior to that, she was Assistant Professor of the Department of Finance at Yuan Ze University, Taiwan. She has a number of research papers published in academic journals, such as Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting (2011), Review of Financial Economics (2009), Journal of Asset Management (2008), Financial Management (2007), Review of Pacific Basin Financial Markets and Policies (2005).

Dr. Ho holds PhD in Finance from University of Birmingham, U.K., 1999, and holds FRM in year 2003.

Alexandre Bon

Head of Marketing & Strategy, APAC


Alexandre looks after the definition, positioning and go-to-market strategy of Murex product solutions with a focus on Risk Management and Regulatory Transformation. His most recent work centers on the implementation of the bilateral Initial Margin and Basel III capital reforms, and on XVA desks operating models. Alexandre also co-heads the Murex task force on the Interest Rates Benchmark Reform. 

Since joining Murex in 2000, Alexandre has held both senior client-facing and product management positions, last serving as global head of the Risk Control practice and general manager for Murex Ireland, where he drove the development of the MX.III XVA management solution and Credit Risk simulation engine.

Alexandre holds a « Grande École » MSc in Management and Finance from HEC Paris.

Henry Chan

Henry Chan is head of Global Financial Markets at Cathay United Bank. Henry joined the bank in 2012 as the head of trading desk, before that he was a trader on money-market, rates derivative and FX products at Deutsche Bank, Standard Chartered and Credit Suisse. Henry holds a master’s degree in Investment Management from Cass Business School City, University of London.

Blake Evans-Pritchard is bureau chief, Asia, for Risk.net based in Hong Kong. Before taking on his current role, he spent three years covering regulatory issues across Asia for Risk.net, including implementation of Basel III and other international standards in regional jurisdictions. Previously, he spent five years in Brussels writing about the European Union’s financial services sector and competition policy and a number of years as Africa editor for a news service covering post-conflict restitution around the world.

Tony Kao

Tony Kao is head of Financial Trading, Global Markets at Cathay United Bank. He  had over 22 years banking experience, including 16 years commercial banking experience and 6 years investment banking experience. Tony holds a MBA degree in Investment Management from Pace University, New York.

Jeff is a Senior Manager in PwC Consulting Hong Kong. He specializes in risk & regulatory advisory with a primary focus on market, counterparty credit and liquidity risk management. He has over 8 years of experience in risk system operation review, market & liquidity risk models design and validation, as well as Fund Transfer Pricing (FTP) strategies in the banking industry. He is currently the key driver for all IRRBB initiatives and is the key member in supporting the Hong Kong Association of Bank's ("HKAB") for its response to BCBS and HKMA consultations, covering areas in market risk, IRRBB, counterparty credit risk and liquidity risk.

Jeff holds a Bachelors degree from the University of Hong Kong with dual concentrations in Risk Management and Finance. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM).

Kok Wah Lok

Head of Market Risk Client Services, APAC


Kok Wah LOK (駱國)is the Head of Market Risk Client Services, APAC (Asia Pacific) and based in Murex Singapore. He is responsible for Market Risk related client advisories and project deliveries across APAC for Murex business solutions such as VaR, FRTB and Initial Margin Models.

Since joining Murex in 2004, he has led and advised numerous successful Murex risk implementations in the APAC region, shaping the trading risk infrastructure and risk practices of our clients. In additional, he collaborates closely with the product development team to drive the evolution of the MX.III Market Risk Engine to address our clients’ market risk needs.

Kok Wah is a graduate of the National University of Singapore and a CFA charter holder.

Sophie Marnhier-Foy

Global Principal Product Manager - Margin and Clearing Risk


Sophie Marnhier Foy is the Calypso global product manager for CCPs, Clearing Risk and Margin. In her role, she designs the Calypso margin solutions to meet the various regulatory margin and clearing requirements. Currently, Sophie works very cl osely with clients implementing ISDA SIMM, to ensure that their IOSO/BCBS compliance for Sept 2018, 2019 or 2020 will be successful. Ms Marnhier-Foy is also in charge of the margin services cloud initiative, which is offering native cloud micro-services. The first service is offering ISDA SIMM margin calculation and management.

Benny Miao

Executive Vice President, Head of Corporate Finance


Benny Miao is Executive Vice President and Head of Corporate Finance. Benny is responsible for all aspects of Cathay United Bank’s (“CUB”) Corporate Finance Group, including syndicated loans, structured finance, project finance, financial advisory, and debt capital markets.

Prior to CUB, Benny held senior positions at APG Asset Management, Asia (Dutch Pension Fund), China-ASEAN Fund (Infrastructure Private Equity Fund), and Citigroup Corporate and Investment Bank (based in New York, Australia, and Hong Kong).

Benny holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Finance from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona and a Masters of Business Administration degree from Pennsylvania State University. Benny is also a CFA charterholder.

Quentin Slight

Quentin is based in Hong Kong where he is Head of Credit Agricole CIB’s Energy & Infrastructure Group for Asia with responsibility for a team of ten based in Hong Kong and Singapore. He was previously a senior member of the Power & Utilities project finance team based in Paris with responsibility for advisory and arranging mandates in the EMEA region. The Energy & Infrastructure Group covers project and acquisition financing and advisory in the key sectors of Power, Oil&Gas, Infrastructure and Mining. Key recent transactions that Quentin has led include the acquisition financing for GIP’s US$5Bn acquisition financing of Equis’ pan-Asian renewables portfolio that closed in January and the Formosa 1 Offshore Wind project here in Taiwan that closed in June and where CA-CIB acted as Lead Documentation Bank. In Taiwan, the team is currently actively working on one M&A advisory and two MLA roles in the Offshore wind space and as sole lender for a large-scale solar PV project

Thomas So

Based in Hong Kong, Thomas So is the Head of Risk, North Asia.  He manages the North Asia Risk Business Development and Sales Specialist teams focus on Thomson Reuters Risk portfolio of products and services including Know Your Customer, Anti-Money Laundering, Risk Management, Enhanced Due Diligence and Compliance Learning, for industries such as Banking/Finance, Insurance, Corporate, Manufacturing and Government. 

Thomas has been involved in numerous GRC projects for over 5 years which he is also ITIL certified consultant.  Prior joining Thomson Reuters, Thomas was the Director of Greater China for RSA (Security Division of EMC) where he gained extensive experience in IT Risk and Cyber Security.

Tang spent 24 years working in financial industry including 20 years' experience in fund management in Hong Kong and Taiwan. He worked for JP Morgan (Hong Kong), Value Partner Concord AMC. Prior to joining the Company, Tang was the Chief Investment Officer of PineBridge Investment Management Taiwan.

Joseph Tang is a graduate of National Taiwan University and received MBA from Baruch College, the City University of New York, United States. He holds CPA certificates in both Taiwan and the United States..

Chief Investment Officer - Fixed Income


Mr. Wu is the CIO of the Fixed Income Department at Fuhhwa Securities Investment Trust Company and the fund manager for 4 overseas bond funds (including: Fuh Hwa Global Bond Fund, Fuh Hwa Global Short-term Income Fund, and Fuh Hwa Emerging Markets Short-term Income Fund, Fuh Hwa ZAR fixed income umbrella fund). Fuh Hwa Global Bond Fund is the earliest overseas bond fund in Taiwan and managed by Mr. Wu since inception. Fuh Hwa Global Bond Fund was also awarded with the Best Fund Award (Overseas Fixed Income Product in 3-Year Period) from Taipei Foundation of Finance in 2009.

Mr. Wu holds  2 master degrees ( Executive MBA Program in Business Administration of National Taiwan University and Master in Banking and Finance of National Chengchi University) and a bachelor degree in Economics from National Chengchi University

Dennis Yap is a Calypso Senior Market Specialist for Capital Market, Treasury and Asset Management. He helped both global and Taiwanese Banks, Securities Companies, Asset Managers and Fortune 500 companies design solutions around investment, risk and compliance challenges. Dennis Yap spearheaded Calypso entry into many greenfield market including Taiwan, China and Thailand. He also expanded Calypso capability to better support local practices across Asia Pacific region including India, Hong Kong, Japan and Korea. Dennis Yap graduated from National University of Singapore and is a certified Project Management Professional and Financial Risk Manager.
